Barro Butter Dish, Pink

The Barro Butter Dish comprises a small plate and matching lid. Made of durable terracotta, the butter dish is glazed in high-gloss colour that can be matched or mixed in innumerable combinations. The soft pink hue matches with elegant white colour theme popular in the Nordics but also combines nicely with other shades, like blues, greens, blacks, greys or yellows, just to name a few, splashing colours into a maximalist, fun mode! 

Designed by Rui Pereira for Hay, the Barro is part of a tableware collection that brings the warmth and simplicity of terracotta to the dining table. Barro, meaning 'red clay' in Portuguese, reflects the designer's appreciation for the traditions and applications of this ancient material. The raised edge of the Barro dishes, combined with its soft appearance and proportions, creates a sense of stability that makes the butter dish enjoyable to use. Crafted in Portugal from terracotta, the Barro mixes two contrasting paths in craft, the old tradition of Portugese ceramics and next generation international design.
